It’s been a month since I’ve written an article. Sometimes life is too hectic and your priorities shift around for a period of time- and that’s A-okay. The trick is, I think, not to ditch your goals entirely. It can be an easy thing to do when you feel so far behind. But you just have to bounce back and do the damn thing ya know?

Don’t fret, I’ve still been watching A LOT of content. Which is why this post will center around a little bit of everything I’ve been consuming instead of one focal piece.

One of my first posts was about a newer show called Manifest. Now, we’re in the midst of its second season and my god I am PUMPED. I don’t know if I’m so invested in this show because it gives me a Lost vibe or because I’m such a fangirl for Melissa Roxburgh. She has such a strong presence that draws me to her character. I would die if I met her. Also, the strong chemistry between the cast on and off-screen is something else that makes this show so fantastic to watch. Does anyone else watch Manifest? I feel like I’ve blabbed about this show to so many people and no one watches it. It’s one of those hidden gems that slip right under our noses.

The Good Place had resurfaced with its last episodes of the series and is now concluded. I binged the first three seasons when I first moved to New York and had way too much time on my hands. As the fourth and final season premiered, I felt as though I had an obligation to see it through to the end. I think this is a show that is more enjoyable as a binge; I’ve had a hard time keeping up with what’s going on and what has happened at the pace of one episode per week. I still loved how the writers threw the big reveals into the middle of the seasons and not at the very end. They go against typical climactic reveals which I appreciate. But this show will bring you joy. It’s a little different and out there, but it went against the classic norms of television series that I think you will appreciate as I did.

One show a lot of my girlfriends do watch is This Is Us. Well, that and The Bachelor (but tbh who doesn’t secretly love that franchise). You may have heard that this show makes you cry every episode and I’m here to tell you that is incorrect. But, you will cry often. It’s unique because it takes an ordinary family with ordinary problems and finds a way to make them relatable to the viewer. The writers humanize the characters. I think that’s why people (including myself) get emotional when they watch it. We like watching shows and movies that feel familiar and where we can see ourselves in those situations. Not to say that we don’t like watching things that are fictional but I know that the ordinariness is what draws me to This Is Us. We’re only in the fourth season but it’s greenlit for six as of now so I’m curious to see what else they can come up with to knock us off our feet.

I’ve dabbled in a few other things like Zoo, Cheer, The Devil Wears Prada and a few documentaries. But something that’s been taking up a lot of my time is Peter Weber. I’m sure a lot of you know what I’m talking about. Like I said, who doesn’t love The Bachelor? I’m not much of a reality TV person but I started watching the show when Becca Kufrin was the lead and I haven’t looked back since. The drama is addicting y’all. In fact, my friends and I love the show SO much, that we started a podcast. Eek. It’s been another something that’s been taking a lot of time away from writing but as I discovered in journalism school- I love talking about movies and TV just as much as I love writing about them. Popshack (that is thee podcast) isn’t just about The Bachelor but it’s about everything involving the entertainment realm: Celebrity news, pop culture, movies, and so on. We’re still working out some kinks and tinks though so I’m stoked to see where we go with it! But for now, I’m just trying to find that balance.
