Review: Cash Pad

Everyone loves a good home renovation show. Can we agree on that?

But this is something just a tad different. CNBC’s Cash Pad follows JoJo Fletcher and Jordan Rodgers as they scout potential, unique spaces to revamp into short-term Airbnb rentals. While most renovation shows focus on reconstructing homes, I, for one, cannot buy those homes. I’m not at that point in my life. But this, this is something that snags my attention. These are places I can go and stay at, and so can you.

You might recognize this couple from a certain reality dating show (*cough cough* The Bachelorette). What you may not know is JoJo had a background in remodeling and flipping homes WAY before she entered Bachelor Nation. So fear not, she knows what she’s doing. Throw in a handy fiancé and now we have this: a good-looking couple pumping out insane rentals (like a shipping container) featuring their adorable dog Jackson across the grand state of Texas- and I’m here for it.

JoJo and Jordan live in Dallas so most of these rentals are located throughout Texas in cities like Austin, Stonewall and Granbury. The couple looks for locations that are up-and-coming and growing in popularity. Then, they partner with homeowners that have a unique space dying to be turned into a signature, Airbnb rental. And get this- all of the planning and flipping is done in LESS than a week. Nuts.

So far this season, we’ve seen them renovate spaces like an airstream, warehouse, small cottage and yes, a shipping container chillin’ in someone’s backyard. I think this is part of what makes this show so fascinating to watch. Would I have ever considered renting a shipping container on Airbnb? Absolutely not. Will I now? If it’s one as dope as JoJo and Jordan’s, yes.

I like how Cash Pad follows the same format every episode. You don’t feel lost if you decide to jump in at episode four or if you’re a few weeks behind. Every week I’m reminded what the heck ROR means and the viewers get a breakdown of how the partnership between the homeowners and JoJo and Jordan work. I could explain all the deets to you but I’d rather you go see for yourself.

What I also like about this show is that it appeals to a variety of audiences. If you’re a fanatic of those HGTV renovation shows, this is for you. If you’re looking for your next vacation spot and cool Airbnbs to explore, this is for you too. AND, if you’re as much of a die-hard JoJo and Jordan fan as I am, well shoot, this is for you! We were able to witness them run off into the sunset when they got engaged on The Bachelorette in 2016. With the birth of Cash Pad, we are now gifted with the opportunity to see more of who they are as a team while thriving in their element.
